Tips from Petra at Atmananada Lifestyle
We asked Petra Wigermo, yoga guru, that runs Atmananada Lifestyle to share with us some of her Mallorca favourites.
1. Which hotel would you like to spend a couple of nights at?
I would love to spend some time at the beautiful five star Hotel Maricel just outside of Palma. I used to live next to it and every time I went out swimming or kayaking I could see the guests getting a massage under the stone arches out in the open air overlooking the sea. I love the architecture of the building, it is the arab style which secures a comfortable climate even on a hot day, so when the summer is here this a place where you want to spend your lazy day at feeling the breeze overlooking the ocean and just feel total relaxed to just be.

2. Best restaurant / bar / cafe?
Being a vegetarian on the island is not a mission impossible. For the first time in my life I have normally decided first what to eat due to few dishes offered, so my life is now so much easier. There are a some really good vegetarian lunch restaurants in Palma with the same concept offering 4 plates each with 2 alternatives for the price of 13.50 Euros, water included. But the one that really stands out is Sa Pastanaga. It is really worth going, being a vegetarian or not. The food is delicious and when they open at 13.00, people are already waiting outside and normally after 15 minutes the restaurant is full and people need to wait for the next “sitting”, and they do! It is only open Mondays to Fridays from 13-15.30. They do not have a website but they are located in the center of Palma near La Rambla.
The address is Calle Sant Elies 6 and the telephone: 97 172 4194.
For those of you that are into Indian food there is Namaste India, which is situated a little bit behind the Paseo Mallorca on c/ Torrente 5. It is a authentic Hindu restaurant with delicious Indian food at a very good price. In the evenings when the breeze comes in they move out some of the tables so that you can sit outside. I really recommend number 9 on their vegetarian starter menu, it is a crunchy spinach dish.
My favorite Bar/Café here in Palma (and not just mine) is the famous Bar Bosch. It is situated where you just cant miss it in the central part of Palma, on Plaza Juan Carlos 1. If you come in the morning around nine you might just get to see a group of well dressed elderly Mallorquín gentlemen having their morning coffee and something stronger as well. This bar should be rewarded for their yummy bread with tomatoes and olive oil and it works as great for breakfast as for lunch, or whenever actually. It is always crowded, but you never need to wait for long.
3. What is the name of your favourite beach?
My favorite beach is Es Trenc. It was not that well known 15 years ago that it is now, but it is definitely worth the trip down to the south of the island. The water is crystal clear and you feel like you have come to paradise. The color of the ocean is something else ait is like it has its special tone and the sand is totally white.. If you can, try to come any day but Sunday, but that goes for any Spanish beach. Sundays are family day and the family brings everything, so if you come on family day prepare yourself for big entertainment. The beach is three km long so if you are prepared to walk, you can be more to yourself.

4. The best trip on the Island goes to………?
I really recommend Es Trenc. But there is a trip to the east side of the island that I still have not done myself, but I have actually longing to go for years. It is a famous tourist attraction and has been for many years, Las Cuevas del Drach, the dragon caves. They are located in Porto Cristo, address Carretera Cuevas s/n. The caves are told to be spectacular . Inside the caves there is a big lake with an am phi theater where you sit down to listen on their daily classical concerts with musicians entering on boats. What about that? http://www.cuevasdeldrach.com/main_eng.html
5. What is so special about Mallorca?
The best thing about this island is the light, not just the sun but the light. This light you can enjoy during the whole year. Also the inspiration that the island gives you to outdoors activities i.e. mountain-, biking- and water-activities you name it.
I just know that I feel so fortunate to live here.
